
After completing degree programs from the University of Calgary in both Education and English, John began his teaching career in western Canada in 1993. His professional experience covers both urban and rural settings, public and private, Kindergarten to college-level instruction, multi-level classrooms and team-teaching partnerships, Canadian and Turkish. He has taught subjects ranging from Fine Arts and Drama through History and Technology Design Studies, English literature and English Language (EFL). He was an early online consultant and regular contributor to Industry Canada’s Network of Innovative Schools (NIS) e-Bulletin, recognized for its supportive development of cross-curricular and technologically integrative approaches to education, and he has made presentations at both Canadian national and local teacher development conferences. He also worked in various provincial and local program / curricular development initiatives, and further, has been nominated for and awarded recognition for best teaching practices. John has also been involved in formal teacher-training programs both in Canada and Turkey. Most recently, he joined the INKAŞ Publishing team after holding the position of Head of Foreign Languages Department at İSTEK Semiha Şakir Schools in Istanbul.
